Salnave Elementary is home to over 330 students in grades PreK-5.  Our students and families live within the city of Cheney, in surrounding rural areas, and near the Eastern Washington University campus. Our school was originally constructed in two phases in 1970 and 1977, was substantively renovated in 2001-02, and additional remodels were completed from 2014-2016 to classrooms on the lower level to enhance learning spaces. Our secure entry construction project was completed in April 2018.

The staff embraces a commitment to excellence, and teaching and learning activities are based upon state and district curriculum goals, as well as our school improvement plan. All staff members work diligently to support a school environment that is conducive to high quality academic learning for all students.  Together staff focuses on our vision of "Dreaming, Learning, and Growing Together," as we embrace a growth mindset, employ brain-based teaching strategies to engage all learners, and empower students with individual goals.  

Our students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of after school activities (i.e. Math is Cool, academic clubs, after school sports, Bloomsday Training) and display their leadership talents within our ASB, Safety Patrol, and Kindness Ambassadors.  Our school’s PTO sponsors a wide variety of activities for families throughout the school year that have become rooted as traditions at Salnave, such as an annual Bingo event, supporting our family nights, and volunteering at our June Field Day.
